We have raised money through grants and through fund raising activities. This money is then ploughed back into the village. We have planted spring bulbs throughout the grass verges of the village. We have purchased 7 self-watering flower troughs which are kept planted throughout the year. We have built and maintained wooden flower troughs around all of the village signs. We have erected stones which are engraved with different words at three entrances to the village. These mark our heritage in the village. They include the name ‘Bageworde’, the name for the village in Domesday. They also refer to the fact that one of the first railways in the world came to Bagworth in 1832.
We have also installed an old mine tub (wagon) on rails and filled it with plants in Main Street. We are going to install a second one in Station Road in 2005.
We have introduced an annual vegetable, flower, cooking and craft village show, the first of which was in August 2003. We have now organised two of these and each year has been bigger and better. August 27 2005 will be the next one.
