Claymills Pumping Engines Trust

About the Trust
CPET has a Memorandum and Articles of Association. It is a registered charity no. 1030331 and a not for profit company registered at the above address no. 2871763.

CPET was formed in 1993 to promote and preserve for the benefit of the public the nineteenth century Claymills Pumping Station complex including all buildings, engines and equipment situated on the site.

Restoration on the site began in 1993 and in 2000 the site was once again in steam. We are now in steam for approximately eight weekends a year. This very much a community project. All the work is done by our voluntary workforce and we have no paid employees. We currently have 265 members and approximately 40 of these actively volunteer on site.

NEWSLETTER
The 'Pumping News' goes out to all paid up members (either by post or e-mail). It is currently not available to the general public.
GROUP SKILLS
We have many engineers and retired engineers but we also have members with a very wide selection of occupational skills. We also have members who act as site guides and we are currently seeking to recruit more of these. Ladies are very welcome to join and take part in the restoration. However, we have a very faithful band of ladies who look after our shop and refreshment area.
CURRENT PROJECTS
Reconstruction of E Engine House. This is a wooden building being built to house engines that were originally housed in the now demolished lime processing plant.

Museum Accreditation. This is a project to move the site to official museum status. It involves cataloging and accessioning site artefacts, preparing our learning centre, and setting up an educational service.
