Fancy dress party at Croxall Hall, 1939

The reason for this fancy dress party at Croxall Hall 1939 is long forgotten, but it drew quite a crowd.

Wychnor Hall

Grand and elaborate balls were held at Wychnor Hall, for those lucky enough to be invited.

The village’s favourite pub, the Paul Pry, was demolished in 1963.

Church Farm, Alrewas

Farming at Church Farm, Alrewas

A whole family could be involved in running a farm such as Church Farm, which was on the Wychnor Estate, located on the hill by Wychnor Church. It is visible from the road, although in 2006 the buildings are divided into residential properties and a horse riding school.

The Old Posting House had been a stopping off point and a place for horses to rest on long journeys.
