Timeframe Winners & runners up

The Timeframe Story...

The competition was launched in November 2004. Now, the deadline is history and the preparation, planning and publicity are a distant memory! The competition has been a great success:

• TIMEframe has generated a fantastic 272 photographs from 66 people who have actively explored heritage features within the Forest.

• Over 250 enquiries were taken from people across The National Forest, Cheshire, Essex, Avon, Hampshire, Middlesex, Suffolk, Sussex, Southampton, Manchester, London, Somerset, Northern Ireland, Wales and as far afield as Germany, France and Sweden!

• Photography workshops in Woodville, Burton, Newborough, Wychnor, Thornton and Markfield involved 60 people in visits to sites of historic interest and activities to improve and inspire their photography.

• These workshops have generated over 1000 images, some of which are featured here on the LANDshapes website

The Great Explorers taken by Tim Aggas - Overall winner
Overall Winner 'The Great Explorers

Congratulations to Tim Aggas from Coleorton whose image took first prize in the TIMEframe Photography Competition. The photograph was an immediate hit with the panel of judges, which included Susan Bell, Chief Executive of The National Forest at the time of judging, professional photographers Christopher Beech and Robert Morris, and Annette Mcgrath, geologist with the National Forest Company.

Tim’s image captures a great sense of discovery. The nooks and crannies of Ashby Castle offered Tim a wealth of opportunities to chronicle the heritage within The National Forest. In golden dresses our four explorers could be straight from the magical world of Narnia. The magic here is that the experience is very real, they are touching history and connecting with the lives of people from so far back in time that is quite amazing to our young investigators’ minds.
